Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a high-priority search for a Direct Hire Sr. Research Associate specializing in Viral Vector on behalf of our client, an innovative Biotech company located in San Francisco, CA. Overview:

We are seeking a team-oriented Scientist or Chemical Engineer to join the viral vector core to support process development of novel cell and gene therapies. A successful candidate will be able to generate multiple viral vector preparations, design and execute experiments, and work collaboratively to construct solutions to development roadblocks.

About You:

  • You hold a Bachelors degree within a scientific field.
  • You have 3+ years’ experience in a wet laboratory setting working with viral vectors.
  • You come with hands on experience working with retroviral vector production and downstream processing.
  • You hold downstream processing experience.
  • You succeed working in a teamwork-oriented environment and love collaboration.
  • You’re a team player. You have a track record of engaging, and working closely, with cross-functional teams to keep projects moving forward as smoothly as possible.
  • You are a self-starter and eager to take on new projects.


What You’ll Do:

  • Viral vector manufacturing of gene circuit construct candidates using  a specific proprietary production platform.
  • Design processes and execute experiments to improve overall system performance.
  • Analyze and present data at cross-team functional meetings.
  • Communicate design ideas and translate relevant information into process improvements.
  • Work with the viral vector team to develop a process for larger scale virus production for pre-clinical development
  • Perform routine cell culture maintenance, cell counting, as well as media and buffer formulation.
  • Routinely enter data into electronic lab notebook system and worksheets.
