Scion Executive Search (www.scionexecutivesearch.com) has been retained to conduct a search for the Director of Information Technology on behalf of Orange County Community Foundation, an incredible organization with the mission to inspire a passion for lifelong philanthropy, faithfully steward the intentions of their donors, and catalyze sustainable community impact! This amazing leadership opportunity is for immediate hire and while the position will begin on a remote basis, long-term this role will operate full-time from the Foundation’s office in beautiful Newport Beach, California.

 

POSTION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Executive Vice President & COO, the Director of Information and Technology is an exciting role which oversees IT operations, managing department staff as well as related risk management protocols. Additionally, the Director of IT serves as a liaison with other departments, strategically ascertaining technological requirements and developing and implementing solutions which are aligned with defined objectives. In addition to being a collaborative leader, the right person for this role will be able to lead high-level strategic planning around information and technology for the organization, including cybersecurity, in addition to providing hands on project management, guidance and support to staff at all levels.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates IT projects which are aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Oversees all IT operations and infrastructure; benchmarking costs and productivity levels to ensure the maintenance of current and future technology systems and project initiatives.
  • Champions database management.
  • Consults senior-level stakeholders across the organization; identifying technology related business needs and optimizing effective use of IT; identifying vulnerabilities, the need for upgrades, as well as opportunities for improvement and the proactive proposal of solutions (i.e. the recommendation of new systems and software).
  • Leads overall effort supporting digital transformation (cloud services, business intelligence, mobile, AI, etc.).
  • Owns internal IT capability building, including business and IT requirements, division platform/systems maintenance, as well as database implementation efforts.
  • Develops and implements risk management protocols to ensure security of organizational data and network assets; responds to information security incidents proactively/as needed.
  • Ensures reported IT issues are resolved/addressed with an emphasis on outcome quality and in a timely manner.
  • Maintains communication and accessibility to foster strong cross-organizational relationships with internal staff as well as external stakeholders, ensuring optimal outcome achievement.
  • Champions IT/systems related vendor management; consistently fosters positive relationship development with external advisors and technology vendor partners.
  • Applies existing knowledge of telecommunications, IoT, networks and databases into daily tasks.
  • Prepares departmental financial budgets and annual performance reviews for IT staff.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High level of expertise in the following areas: database management, cybersecurity, and reporting.
  • Strategic, growth-oriented mindset; knack for bridging IT with business needs.
  • Ability to lead digital transformation initiatives.
  • Proven experience with vendor relationship development.
  • Experience leading large-scale CRM implementations.
  • Budgeting & forecasting experience.
  • Strong history with database management.
  • Project Management Experience.
