Scion Nonprofit Staffing (www.scionnonprofitstaffing.com) has been engaged to lead a search for a Director of Development for our client, a nonprofit organization that is focused on developing a new protocol for COVID-19. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to work alongside highly esteemed scientists and researchers focused on promoting a healthy community! This position is remote, with preference for someone who is based in the Eastern time zone.

OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Development oversees all fundraising efforts for the organization. The position is offered on a contract basis, but could become permanent, and depending on growth, may lead to the creation of other development positions. The Director of Development leads activities pertaining to the identification, cultivation and solicitation of gifts from individual, corporate and foundation contributors, and philanthropic organizations and all other sources for the organization.  The Director of Development ensures accountability and success of the fundraising efforts, including development communications, stewardship, proposal tracking, prospect management, and fundraising progress toward goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create a comprehensive plan for development strategies and growth
  • Refine, implement, and monitor the plan for ongoing development success
  • Establish and build relationships with key individuals and organizations relevant to the work of the organization
  • Cultivate relationships with philanthropic organizations, foundations, and corporate philanthropy
  • Work closely with clinicians to understand needs and make connections with appropriate donors
  • Prepare, edit, and finalize all development communications
  • Develop and implement new development programs, including government and private grants, individual gifts and online giving
  • Develop and monitor all development related reports and tracking documents

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of fundraising experience with progressive levels of responsibility
  • A history of successful solicitation of individual and major gifts
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with healthcare or academic medicine fundraising is a plus

COMPENSATION

The hourly rate for this contract position is $50/hour+ (DOE).
