Scion Nonprofit Staffing (www.scionnonprofitstaffing.com) has been engaged to conduct a search for a Program Director for our client, a national community-driven nonprofit organization. This is a full-time position for immediate hire and will be based out of San Francisco, CA.

THE JOB & WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
The Program Director will be responsible for therapeutic and clinical oversight of all related program functions. Additionally, the Program Director works closely with the Executive Director and Business Administrator in the execution of critical administrative functions related to state licensing and re-credentialing and compliance with Federal Treatment Contracts (primarily Department of Housing and Urban Development and Department of Veterans Affairs).

The Program Director will also directly supervise primary, individual and group guidance counseling, including education programs and process group facilitation. The Program Director is also responsible for a child development center and works in conjunction with the Site Supervisor to provide administrative reporting, licensing, hiring, safety and employee management.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Maintain policy and procedure manuals for the program, staff, and clients.
  • Maintain compliance with State Licensing requirements and make required reporting.
  • Address any grievances or issues filed with The State of California Department of Alcohol & Drug programs.
  • Manage the re-credentialing and contract renewal process with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Veterans Affairs and other linked agencies.
  • Review and approve file maintenance and case reviews with respect to client discharges, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
  • Prepare the submission of reports and backup materials as they relate to government, state or private grants and foundations requirements.
  • Responsible for administrative management and oversight of state-licensed childcare program; administer licensing and safety issues related to the Childcare program.
  • Liaise with Funding Consultant and assist in preparing grant applications.
  • Conduct interviews and give input to Executive Director regarding hiring for all treatment staff positions.
  • Be prepared to represent the Executive Director at public events and meetings as assigned.
  • Supervise institutional and maintenance staff to ensure a high standard of cleanliness, orderliness and safety.
  • Verify and approve time cards for all treatment staff positions.

Program & Treatment Services

  • Maintain a safe environment for the recovery and health of all persons in organization’s care.
  • Develop, implement and manage adult program volunteer services to include: counseling, home management, parenting, budgeting, therapy, anger management, self-care and computer training.
  • Develop, implement and manage children’s program volunteer services to include tutoring, in home child care, mentoring, play therapy and early head start.
  • Supervise the therapeutic and clinical needs of residents.
  • Outreach and network with other agencies to build a referral base as needed for program services.
  • Consult with other Directors in the planning and implementation of recovery program services on campus.
  • Provide clinical consultation & supervision of counseling staff.
  • Provide consultation and overall management of operations through direct supervision of staff.
  • Act as first responder in after-hours critical incidents.
  • Design, implement and manage recovery curriculum.
  • Manage counseling groups and related program activities.
  • Facilitate group counseling, education and process groups as needed.
  • Supervise individual counseling sessions, including crisis interventions.
  • Provide individual counseling and case management as needed.
  • Ensure accuracy / compliance guidelines met through review of case management files.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Executive Director.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • 5+ years of progressive program support and/or management experience
  • Knowledge of substance abuse recovery communities and linkages with mental health, HIV, substance abuse recovery communities, permanent housing facilities, government agencies, and vocational training and employment assistance agencies
  • MSW required, a current LCSW strongly preferred!
  • Chemical Dependency / Substance Abuse training is required.
  • Ability to assess and develop program effectiveness on a regular basis.
  • Ability to lead, support and supervise clinical staff.
  • Experience in individual and group counseling.
  • Experience working with federal, state and local contracts required.
  • Strong organizational/office management skills.

COMPENSATION:
This position offers an annual salary within the $90K to $100K range (dependent on experience) and a wonderful benefits package including generous healthcare coverage, 4 weeks of PTO, 12 sick days, 10 holidays, a generous retirement contribution and professional development and continuing education opportunities and reimbursement.
