Scion Staffing (www.scionstaffing.com) is excited to announce that we are partnering with one of the nation’s leading and rapidly growing family law firms to conduct a search for an experienced Paralegal/ Family Law Legal Assistant. This role is temporarily remote role until the firm reopens and is in San Mateo, CA.  

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
-This role will collaborate with a team of 8 attorneys, 2 paralegals, and 2 office staff.
-Draft and proofread correspondence, pleadings, and discovery, including but not limited to letters, emails, Preliminary and Final Declarations of Disclosure, Requests for Order, and subpoenas.
-Highly organized with the ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
-Collect, organize, and maintain client documents and information.
-Draft and proofread correspondence, pleadings, and discovery, including but not limited to   letters, emails, Preliminary and Final Declarations of Disclosure, Requests for Order, and subpoenas.
-Knowledge of and ability to calendar California civil litigation deadlines, including but not limited to the California Code of Civil Procedure, California Rules of Court, and Bay Area Local Rules of Court.
-Detailed oriented, self-starter with the ability to produce a flawless work product
-Serve documents on opposing counsel/parties.
-Court filing and civil litigation procedures for both Federal and State Courts.
-File documents with the Court in paper and via e-filing service providers.
-Prepare attorneys for hearings, trials, mediations, settlement conferences, etc.
-Arrange for and coordinate with process servers, court reporters, and notaries.
-Interview potential clients run conflict checks, and schedule initial consultations with attorneys.
-Calendar meetings, calls, and filing and service deadlines related to hearings, trials, settlement conferences, mediations, etc.
-Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and Court personnel by phone and email.
-Answer and distribute incoming calls and greet clients as needed.
-Other secretarial or administrative tasks as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS
-Minimum two (2) years of family law experience
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Proficiency with Essential Forms, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat 
-Ability to work autonomously
-Strong project management skills
-Positive attitude and a team player

 

PREFERRED SKILLS
-Experience with Sage Time Slips
-Lawgic
