Scion Staffing (www.scionstaffing.com) has been engaged to conduct the search for a talented Education Policy Consultant for our client, a well-known Educational Association in Sacramento, CA

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

• Prepare and present documents on sensitive policy issues to special interest groups, individuals, governing boards and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Facilitate policy development workshops
• Develop and edit district policies and procedures
• Coordinate with policy manual production support staff to customize, update and produce district policy manuals.
• Perform complex analytical functions in planning and developing local policies and procedures for school district governance and operations.
• Analyze and Interpret federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
• Monitor, review, and analyze state and federal legislation and regulations related to educational programs and trends to make recommendations for updating and maintaining district policies and procedures.
• Serve as spokesperson about policy and provide consultative services to members and administrators.
• Respond to technical questions and clarify policy information for staff, local, state, federal, and officials, through a variety of media.
• Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships to support the development and implementation of policies and regulations.
• Prepare clear and effective presentations, reports, correspondence, and other written material.
• Interpret, apply, explain, and insure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.

• 3+ years of experience in Educational Policy or Social Science field. 
• Knowledgeable with public policy, educational system, legislation, or other nonprofit settings. 
• Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders 
• Excellent organizational, time, and project management abilities. 
• Exceptional writing, editing and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to travel 20% of the time throughout the State of California.
• Valid Drivers License. 
• Bachelor’s degree in public policy or related field.
