Scion Staffing, Inc., a full-service national staffing firm, has been engaged to conduct the search for a Development Writer for our incredible client, an independent science organization, dedicated to climate change research and reporting. This is full-time, direct hire, remote role with a leading scientific research organization based in New Jersey!
OVERVIEW
The Development Writer will enthusiastically promote the mission and work of our client to several audiences! This role is responsible for managing all written communications material including but not limited to grant proposals and reports for foundations and individual audiences, ensuring thorough completion of all steps in the proposal and report development process, compiling, and editing existing content and writing new content as needed.
The ideal candidate for this role will be strongly detailed and team oriented while engaging in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, they must demonstrate a deep interest and curiosity in environmental scientific research!
 
WHAT WILL YOU DO IN THIS ROLE?
  • Collaboratively create or revise gift and grant proposals, to develop a polished final product and ensure that all materials meet high standards and achieve objectives.
  • Write or update project and program descriptions to persuasively make the case for funding.
  • Write compelling reports to donors for nonprofit clients.
  • Review and edit all communications content for accuracy and brand mission alignment.
  • Help to maintain and update a library of proposal content with the intention to repurpose and disseminate core content for multiple uses.
  • Prepare fresh, engaging content to acknowledge and update donors.
  • Write appeals for both print and email campaigns.
  • Work cross functionally with other Programs, Communications, Finance, and Operations departments to ensure the success of donor communications and donations.
  • Manage high volume and deadlines and adapt readily as needs and priorities shift.
  • Other communications duties as assigned.
 
WHAT CAN YOU BRING TO THIS OPPORTUNITY?
  • A passion for climate science along with the desire to spread awareness!
  • 2+ years’ experience in grant writing with demonstrated success or other relevant writing experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in nonprofit development
  • Exceptional written communication skills and excellent research, analysis, and editing capabilities.
  • Proven high-volume project management expertise in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic and keen eye for detail.
  • Prior experience utilizing Slack, Trello, and G-Suite platforms.
  • Proven success with self-motivated productivity in a remote work environment within time zone constraints.
  • Strong interest in organization mission with a desire to contribute to organizational growth!
