Purpose of the Role:
 
Equal Opportunity Schools seeks a Chief of Sales who is socially responsible, in tune with race and diversity in education, and is drawn towards equity. The Chief of Sales will be responsible for the overall leadership for revenue growth and national scaling, including partnership expansion and growth, planning, strategy, and execution. A clear focus on obtaining new client organizations, including educational entities through federal, state, regional, district and school levels to support EOS growth and impact. This position will act in a high-level strategic role and manage a team whose success depends on their ability to effectively make initial contact with potential new partners, build relationships, and move the relationship forward through the contract stage of the partnership lifecycle.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Develop EOS’ multi-year growth and impact strategies resulting in measurable impact semiannually and annually.
  • Design a strategy for generating revenue growth by focusing on but not limited to the following:
    • Manage the ongoing market segmentation analysis of 12,500+ AP/IB high schools nationally and formulate an expansion plan.
    • Direct a seamless growth strategy by overseeing the logistics of recruiting events including upfront contact information sourcing and tracking of event registration and attendance.
    • Develop partnerships with States and regional service centers to maximize partnership development relationships.
  • Supervise and manage the Partnership Development leadership team and other department staff while fostering a culture of accountability, trust, adaptability, professional development, high-performance, and ethical behavior.
  • Provide talent management and development, including interviewing, hiring, and training new and current employees; planning, assigning, and directing work of sales leaders and teams appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; inspiring others to excel with passion and purpose.
  • Deliver measures of success, including key metrics to scale and grow EOS’s footprint nationally.
  • Stay abreast of changes in federal, state, and local funding streams and categorical finance structures to fuel EOS’s capacity to help educational partners grow and expand EOS products and services.
  • Understand and align EOS partnership development strategies and messaging with state, district, and school strategic priorities, including those specified in approved school and district strategic plans; ensure staff are trained on EOS funding stream options available to districts and schools in each state.
  • Develop and manage the department budget to maximize resource investments, expenditures and return on investment (ROI).
  • Design, prepare and deliver sales presentations to close large revenue opportunities.
  • Handle escalated revenue issues and assist in providing customer-facing representation to resolve any concerns on behalf of the company.
 
Key Attributes:
 
  • Ten or more years' experience working in the management of nonprofits and/or education entities.
  • 40% travel required October through March of each year. 
  • Experience working in multi-ethnic environments and an understanding of demographic shifts and diversity impacting schools and communities.
  • Commitment to social justice and working on issues of race with schools, foundations, and or government agencies.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading a sales team in the K-12 educational market, with $7+ million annual sales targets.
  • Experience in the Federal and State funding process.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and building staff, developing high-performance teams, managing budgets, and achieving goals.
  • Excellence in communication with people at all levels, demonstrating the ability to lead and build consensus.
  • Exceptional project management skills and ability to scope and manage multiple complex projects at once, with a passion for improving efficiency.
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Educational Leadership, or other related area preferred.
     
Compensation & Benefits:
 
This role offers a competitive base salary between $150,000 to $200,000 DOE, plus generous bonus potential.
