Scion Nonprofit has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced Sr. Major Gifts Officer for our incredible, national nonprofit partner!
 
This is truly a rewarding role with an organization that is actively building an anti-corruption movement here in the U.S. by pursuing federal reform through the states. The focus of this movement is to bring folks from across the political spectrum together to forward these changes and give all Americans a greater voice in the U.S. political system.
 
This is a Direct Hire, Full-Time opportunity for immediate hire. This role is based out of the organization’s Massachusetts office but functions on a fully remote basis. Candidates must be able to work normal business hours in Eastern Time. Up to 40% of this role involves travel (residence in New York will allow for less travel given the size of our client’s presence/market in the state).
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Major Gifts Officer to lead partnership and relationship building on the East Coast. This position will play a key role in developing and managing a portfolio of 150+ donors/prospects, each with an estimated capacity to give $100,000 or more. This Officer is responsible for qualifying new prospects and building relationships, and will participate in soliciting annual, campaign, and planned gifts from donors/prospects in the portfolio. This role will spend a significant amount of time directly interacting with donors and helping donors fulfill their passions and interests through their funding decisions.
Responsibilities of the role include:  
  • Prospect and strengthen external partnerships and relationships throughout the East Coast.
  • Creatively lead, build and maintain relationships with high level donors through phone, virtual, and in-person meetings with existing and potential high-level donors.
  • Strategically design and execute comprehensive plans for each donor/prospect in the portfolio to include moves management in order to meet annual goals
  • Partner with senior and program staff and/or volunteers on donor engagement opportunities.
  • Work cross-functionally to assist development efforts i.e., partner with events manager to generate attendance.
  • Work with the appropriate staff to secure project information and use this information to develop materials directed at individual donors/prospects, such as highly personalized proposals that are in line with donor interests and programmatic priorities, stewardship reports that detail progress made as a result of a particular gift, etc.
  • Track portfolio activity and progress. Create reports as required by management that accurately reflect portfolio activity and performance.
  • Make thank-you calls when assigned to acknowledge donor gifts.
  • Work closely with Director of Donor Relations and the fundraising team to build and best leverage relationships based on donor interests.
     
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate for this role is a go-getter, brings great energy and thinks outside the box to develop relationships with potential and current donors.
The following experience is required:
  • 8+ years of Major Gifts Officer experience, or another highly similar role.
  • 5+ years of experience working in fundraising.
  • 5+ years of experience working with a CRM 
  • Experience bringing in gifts $100k+.
  • Well versed in moves management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with high level donors.
  • Great interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills
  • A team player who brings high energy and a passion for reducing corruption and increasing citizen engagement in the U.S. political system.

In addition to a competitive base salary ($90,000 to $100,000), this incredible role provides a comprehensive benefits package which includes 20 vacation days in addition to sick days, personal day and 10 paid holidays, strong health and dental plan (including 100% of health and dental premiums covered for the employee), retirement plan, etc.
