Job Description:

The Director of Resident Services will be based in this nonprofit’s San Francisco office reporting to the Deputy Executive Director. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of supervision experience of increasing responsibilities. 

The Director of Resident Services is largely responsible for coordinating and implementing all direct and contracted services to housing tenants, works closely with staff to ensure all programs are aligned with agency mission, governing principles, and in compliance with external requirements and guidelines, provides training and services as a resource to tenants and the Resident Services Department in the areas of program development, planning, coordination, and implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Program Implementation
    • In conjunction with Senior Management Team and staff, develops a comprehensible vision for the delivery of program services, and the development of residents and volunteers into leaders.
    • Reports to the Deputy Executive Director in ways to improve coordination and integration of programs also to forge public/community relations, and work with our tenants to achieve community visibility.
    • Develops and maintains effective relationships with local government staff and officials, community groups, funding sources and community leaders.
    • Overseas the department budgets, responsible in obtaining funds to fulfill core department services and compliance for such grants.
    • Manages the Resident Services Department in all aspects of program management/ implementation, service delivery, staffing issues, staff development and community support and works closely with Asset Management Department and Property Management to ensure smooth integration of services and coordination with onsite staff.
    • Ensures that all sites and services are compliant contracts and reporting requirements and works closely with Housing Department to create and present service plans for new development opportunities.
    • Works closely with the Deputy Executive Director to plan for a fund development strategy to address/support capacity and tenant needs.
    • Works with Resident Services Team to creation communication systems for distributing information to tenants/ community and contributes and serves as a member of the management team, to build policy for the organization.
    • Supervision responsibilities includes staff from various levels of the organization.
    • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates Resident Services Department staff. 

Skills/Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of prior supervision experience, 3+ years of fund development, program operations and development, budget management and grant reporting.
    • Commitment to social action, social justice, delivery of quality services and development of people into leaders.

  • Enthusiasm for leadership development and community organizing in a mixed class, multi-racial, multi-ethnic community, including public housing developments.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and support staff and communicate daily with the Deputy Executive Director.
  • Read and understand government grants and regulations and an ability to write monthly reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statement and budgets, and to build workable budgets in conjunction with the fiscal department.
  • Experience developing and presenting formal and on-the-job trainings.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from tenants, work groups, managers, funders and the general public and experience in conflict resolution.
  • Ability to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Requires use of a computer daily with a proficiency with MS Office Suite and email.
  • Skills in negotiating, exchanging ideas, opinions, and information with others to formulate policies and programs.
  • Skills and experience in developing effective relationships with community and government leaders and funding sources
  • Experience in program design, implementation, and evaluation.

Salary:
This role pays a base salary of $105-110k + robust benefits.
