Scion Nonprofit Staffing, a full-service national staffing firm, has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior Philanthropy Officer for our client, a well-known nonprofit organization championing animal welfare nationally. This is an amazing and impactful opportunity for a senior nonprofit professional who is passionate about ending animal cruelty! This role is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity for immediate hire that is mostly remote but requires Texas locality with traveling required.
 
The Senior Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current and new donors within the states of Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, North and South Dakota, Missouri, Nebraska, and Kansas. You will also be responsible for generating income toward a set fundraising target.
 
What you’ll be doing in this exciting role:
-Generating income to meet set fundraising targets via donations from an assigned portfolio of over one hundred donors for the Philanthropy department.
-Planning and implementing major donor cultivation and solicitation strategies including moves management.
-Researching prospective donors and creates proposals.
-Engaging and building relationships with donors including through email, phone, correspondence, and visits.
-Following up on marketing campaigns, individual inquiries, and personal outreach to generate leads and develop contacts for solicitation.
-Connecting donors to staff and volunteers and to program funding areas of potential interest.
-Maintaining records and database of donor contacts and activity and return on investment. Logging calls, proposals, and gifts.
-Following through on gifts by providing acknowledgements. Preparing and providing impact reports for donors who give to specific programs.
-Assisting in planning, managing sponsorships, and other logistics of major donor galas, collaborating with the Events team as needed.
-Partnering with donors to create and host small house party events and fundraisers and follow up with participants.
-Promoting events and programs to donors.
Collaborating and coordinating activities and strategy with the Philanthropy team, including through trainings, reports, and meetings.
-Connecting Board members, other staff and partners, and external affiliates with volunteer opportunities on fundraising campaigns.
-Keeping abreast of achievements, victories, and other developments in the organization and among affiliates, to ensure the ability to provide donors and prospects with full, accurate, and specific information.
-Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of trends in the philanthropy field.
 
What you can bring to the opportunity and organization:
-Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience, required; Master's degree preferred.
-Ten years of experience in development, donor engagement, or another related field required.
-Willing and able to travel and work a flexible schedule.
-High level of confidence, integrity, interpersonal skills, and a professional executive presence for effectively interacting with and influencing others.
-Knowledge of moves management and CRM database systems preferred.
-Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive.
-Ability to manage issues requiring problem resolution and conflict management with excellent interpersonal and intervention skills.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Knowledge of business operations, including effective budget development and management processes.
-Attention to detail and commitment to excellence, demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes.
-Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.

Starting compensation includes a competitive annual salary dependent on experience, plus a full benefits package.
