Scion Executive Search has been retained to conduct a search for the incoming Director of Health Services on behalf of AACI, a nonprofit health and social service provider in San Jose, California. This impactful nonprofit organization is dedicated to managing and providing medical and behavioral health services to a diverse population, thereby improving the lives of everyone in the community.

This full-time, fully on-site leadership position is available for immediate hire in dynamic San Jose, California. A local leader candidate is preferred, but exceptional candidates, open to relocation, from outside the Bay Area will be considered.

Please note that since this position requires in-person work at a physical location, and since the State of California has declared that all employees within the health care arena must be fully vaccinated, AACI is asking that all employees be fully vaccinated by the date of hire. POSITION OVERVIEW:

AACI seeks an enthusiastic and experienced leader with a passion for serving a diverse community to join their team as the Director of Health Services for two clinics in the vibrant city of San Jose.

In this essential position, the contributions of the incoming Director of Health Services will have a lasting impact within and far beyond the organization as AACI works to ensure that medical and

behavioral health services are accessible to all members of the community. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the incoming Director of Health Services will take responsibility for the overall strategic management of the client’s Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), providing thought leadership, tactical organizational oversight, team-oriented direct supervision, and management of the Health Center Federal grants. Familiarity with local resources and decision-makers, comfort collaborating and partnering with others, enthusiasm for growing the clinics, and a passion for meeting the needs of Santa Clara County’s underserved population will make it possible for this leader to have a positive and meaningful impact in this role.

As a member of AACI’s leadership team, the incoming Director of Health Services will nurture the continuous development of a culture which promotes learning and exploration as well as growth to further AACI’s mission impact. Cultivating relationships with members of the community, leveraging local connections, engaging with local consortium networking groups, and identifying local organizations with which to partner is a vital part of the role. Working between two neighboring clinic locations in San Jose, the incoming Director of Health Services will be eager to establish metric goals and guidelines and work collaboratively with AACI’s leadership team. This leader will carefully plan and leverage expertise in FQHC best practices and frameworks to consistently help AACI build, grow, and expand its impact.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead strategic expansion of clinics and services in underrepresented communities of Santa Clara County
  • Apply knowledge of your experience in FQHCs to ensure that grants including HRSA and other funding are best used to benefit our client’s mission and patients
  • Seek out real estate and clinics with which to potentially merge
  • Be a driver of growth for our client: Expand access and add services to support the community
  • Collaborate with the executive team to drive the strategic plan for integrated care, facilitating integration among primary care, behavioral health, and wellness services
  • Present to our client’s Board on issues related to operations of the clinical services and Health Center
  • In conjunction with the Medical Director and Clinic Manager, monitor and work to enhance provider efficiency
  • Create, implement and maintain a robust metrics/KPI system to track strategic analytics and mile markers 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of executive leadership in an FQHC
  • 6+ years of progressive responsibility in a leadership or senior level role for 2+ clinics
  • Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Senior level acumen regarding fiscal responsibility, financial reports, and strategic planning
  • Experience with integrated healthcare and population management
  • Experience with and understanding of the role of social determinants on health
  • Experience managing government funding and grants, including HRSA - $5M+ budget
  • Experience in and passion for working with diverse populations
  • Enthusiasm for promoting growth and expansion of low- and no-cost healthcare services for underserved communities

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

In addition to a competitive base salary of $150,000-170,000 (DOE), AACI also provides a generous benefits package which includes a relocation stipend; a full health insurance package (with AACI paying 95% of premium costs) starting on the first day of the month following the date of hire, 13 days of vacation time, 12 sick days, 11 paid holidays, a paid day off to celebrate your birthday any day during your birthday month, a paid day off to participate in civic engagement, life and AD&D insurance 100% paid for by AACI, long-term disability insurance paid 100% by AACI, employee assistance program (EAP) benefits, the opportunity to participate in AACI’s 403(b) retirement plan with a 3% matching contribution, HRSA Loan repayment program qualified, gym membership reimbursement, a company laptop, and a cell phone stipend.
