Scion Nonprofit has been engaged to conduct a search for a Human Resources Assistant for our client, a well-known nonprofit organization rooted in the revitalization and stabilization of underserved communities. This is an amazing and impactful opportunity for a HR professional longing to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s human resource department. This is a direct-hire role that is locally remote in New York City and ready for immediate hire!
 
This position with our client will start off remote and eventually require employees to report to work at a physical location in New York City. As a cautionary measure, our client is asking all employees to be fully vaccinated by the date of hire. What you’ll be responsible for in this exciting role:
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Answering frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, employment verification, hiring processes, etc.
  • Maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Performing periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Providing clerical support to the HR department including invoice and expense processing. 
  • Administering processes for onboarding and off boarding forms including I-9 verification, background checks, offer letters and promotion letters.
  • Administering nationwide state law poster requirements. 
  • Administering and monitoring the temporary workforce with third party vendors.
  • Assisting with planning and execution of special events such as new hire orientation and trainings.

What you can bring to the opportunity and organization:
  • 2-3 years job related Human Resources experience.
  • Experience working for a multi-state organization with 300+ employees required.
  • Associates degree or relevant work experience.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing, proofreading and research skills
  • Advanced technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite; HRIS, ATS.
  • Working experience with ADP Workforce Now, is a plus.      
 
Compensation & Benefits:
