Scion Nonprofit has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Business Development Coordinator on behalf of an impactful nonprofit that helps individuals overcome barriers to employment and closes the gap between skills and business hiring needs. Our client seeks a professional with experience in, or knowledge of the transportation, distribution and logistics sector. 

This is a very exciting full-time direct-hire grant funded role that is hybrid remote in Hartford, CT, for immediate hire. This is grant funded position slated to last at minimum through December of 2022.
 
This position with our Client requires employees to report to work at a physical location 3 days a week in Hartford, CT. As a cautionary measure, our Client is asking all employees to be fully vaccinated by the date of hire. Overview:
The Business Development Coordinator will engage and sustain strategic relationships with employers, and will facilitate partnership meetings, communications, and business services related to initiatives and grants.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Engage and sustain strategic relationships with funders, employers, industry associations, economic development entities, training providers, and other stakeholders to ensure that program performance goals are met/exceeded.
  • Lead activities related to launch and implementation of new transportation, distribution and logistics sector partnership including employer recruitment, meeting facilitation, strategic plan development, newsletter writing, and designing programs.
  • Facilitate employer access to resources through American Job Centers and other partners to support hiring and training priorities.
  • Work closely with funders to ensure partnership alignment with related initiatives and strategic priorities.
  • Stay current on trends related to DEI in the workplace and job quality. Support employers in adopting policies and practices to advance these priorities.
  • Implement recruitment events, on-the-job training, incumbent worker training, subsidized employment and job placement activities as needed. Track business contacts, services, and activities.
  • Serve as regional subject matter expert on workforce issues in transportation, distribution, and logistics sector.
  • Respond to grant requirements and compliance regarding timely completion of deliverables.
  • Produce varied correspondence, reports, and other materials.
  • Represent the client at variety of public forums, business and community events, and conferences.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Counseling, Education, or related field required.
  • 2+ years of experience in program coordination.
  • Experience in, or knowledge of transportation, distribution and logistics sector, workforce and/or economic development.
  • Relevant experience in business engagement and the building of strategic partnerships.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills. Experience in training and/or outreach activities as well as sales or entrepreneurial experience.
  • Experience composing written and oral presentations and reports.
  • Knowledge of workforce development system, laws, and policies.
  • Multicultural experience and capacity to work effectively with diverse populations preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, ETO and other web-based case management and tracking systems.
  • Ability to travel to various locations in the North Central CT region. Must have reliable transportation, current motor vehicle driver’s license, and auto insurance.
 
Compensation & Perks:
This wonderful opportunity offers a competitive salary of $65,000 depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package that includes 3 health insurance plan options, dental & vision insurance, HSA, disability, life insurance, 401k, generous paid time off, tuition assistance, and flexible work arrangement! This is grant funded position slated to last at minimum through December of 2022.
