Position Title: HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER                                                               

 


Scion Nonprofit Staffing (www.nonprofitstaff.com) the nonprofit specialists have been retained to conduct a search for a new Human Resources Manager  for one of San Francisco’s most rapidly-growing and effective youth advocacy organizations!

ORGANIZATION:  Our client is a private nonprofit organization working to help foster youth make a successful transition to self-sufficiency. It is their mission to support youth in their transition from foster care to successful adulthood by promoting choices and strengthening individual and community resources.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Develops and administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel.

·         Plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the department. Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.

·         Implements and annually updates compensation program; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts annual salary surveys and develops merit pool (salary budget); analyzes compensation; monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.

·         Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures; performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost effectiveness.

·         Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.

·         Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, consultants and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors employee development program, employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing; writes and places advertisements.

·         Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participate in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars. Maintains company organization charts and employee directory.

·         Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

·         Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

·         Equivalent to appropriate four-year college program.

·         Responsible for center wide human resources planning and development.

·         Provides functional guidance for administrative support needs.

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

·         A bachelor's degree and five (5) years' Human Resources experience, OR

·         A master's degree in Human Resources Management and four (4) years experience in the HR field, OR

·         Nine (9) years experience in the HR field, OR

o        Any appropriate combination of education and experience

·         Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification strongly preferred.

 

Required experience:

·         Strong planning and analytical skills, and proven project implementation ability

·         Developing HR programs from scratch

·         Training and development

·         Employee relations

·         Experience supporting senior management

·         Knowledge of HR law including federal and state regulations

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills
