Scion Nonprofit has been engaged to conduct a search for an Associate Editor for our client, an impactful nonprofit organization that provides networking, professional development, certification, and education opportunities to it's members of professionals from around the world! This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity with a flexible schedule and can be worked remotely with a preference for candidates within EST/CST!

What you’ll be responsible for in this exciting role:
  • Research and write original risk management-focused content for digital and print publications
  • Work with the editorial and creative staff to edit, proofread and correct all production copy for each issue to ensure that each issue is completed accurately and on deadline
  • Participate in editorial and design meetings with publications staff to determine focus, visual presentation, and timing of publications
  • Collaborate with editorial, creative, marketing, and other staff to develop and support digital assets, including scheduling and posting website content, employing search engine optimization techniques where necessary, and creating and promoting content for social media channels
  • Review submitted content and proposals, correspond with submitters, conduct additional research, reformat submissions and rewrite/edit material as needed
  • Cultivate contributors from a variety of sources, including subject matter experts, industry contacts and media professionals
  • Continually expand working knowledge of risk management and its related industries
  • Attend conferences, seminars and press events related to risk management to research and develop articles and establish relationships with key contacts
  • Assist other various departments with copywriting/editing/proofreading assignments as needed

What you can bring to the opportunity and organization:
  • Two to three plus years’ experience in business journalism in a web-based capacity through websites, apps, blogs, and social media
  • Knowledge of risk management, insurance, and/or financial services
  • Experience with website content management systems and search-engine optimization techniques
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, Communications or related field preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Adobe InDesign experience desired
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, grammar and spelling skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both, verbal and written
  • Excellent decision-making and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of the peer review process
  • Knowledge of web-based technologies
 
Compensation & Benefits:
This amazing opportunity offers a competitive salary in the $60,000 to $75,000 range and an amazing team to work with. This position with our client will eventually require employees to travel infrequently to conferences.
